Ladies' Retreat Day September 2018
Ecclesia: Exercising Body, Mind and Spirit
Following the success of previous Ladies’ Retreat Days, the
ladies got together on the 15th September for another day of fellowship. We took ourselves away from our usual daily
activities and met at the CPA Club, Goodshaw Fold. The day was a time of listening and being in
God’s presence when we explored serving and encouraging one another while
blessing God. We looked at verses from
the bible explaining ‘Ecclesia’ and what we are called apart to be to one
another and for God, while remaining in Christ our Lord and Saviour. Activities included small group discussions,
pass the parcel with a difference, crafts, and hand massage. Lunch was a great time to get to know newcomers
and the day was completed with communion and prayer. The outcome of discussions was fed back to the
members at the meeting in September.
The group were excited by plans to extend the front of church and discussed the benefits and ideas for using this new space (watch this space over the next 12 months). On the 20th October, 10-11am, there will be an initial meeting in church to discuss the ideas for developing the front of the chapel building. All are welcome to attend.
Extending the pastoral service for those in our fellowship and community who need help when unwell or recovering from illness was also an area for discussion with more people wanting to commit to service in this area of ministry. The diaconate and members are now looking to organise a day for the whole fellowship to get together early in the new year to explore further some of the ideas.
We intend to meet again next year in September as the event is now well and truly an annual occasion we all look forward to. Bev and Jayne would like to thank all those who attended and contributed to the day and to our men in the fellowship who covered duties at home to enable us to meet up once again.
